Kansas City Field Trip

The weather was perfect for our company outing to Kansas City One Place and Strang Chef Collective. Both in the heart of downtown Kansas City.

The first stop was KC One Place. The views from the roof are amazing! On a clear day, you can see Arrowhead and Kauffman Stadiums. Construction was completed, on this KC landmark, in 1988 by none other than PMA Engineering (formerly Seiden & Page/Page McNaghten Associates). This building is still to this day the tallest building in Missouri. What a lot of people don’t realize is that this building was only one part of a much grander scheme to be called Kansas City Place. It was to include townhomes, office towers, and residential/hotel towers. While these were never constructed, KC One Place remains the most recognizable building in the KC skyline.

Thank you to Executive Hills for allowing us to see KC from an amazing vantage point!

After taking in the views of Kansas City One Place, we finished off our field trip with a short walk around the corner to Strang Chef Collective at Lightwell for lunch. They’re located on the first floor of the Lightwell Building at 1100 Main St. KCMO. This food hall concept features (2) local chef inspired restaurants; Verde (Nicole Shute) and Panacea (Derek Losson). PMA worked with GastingerWalker& to bring this culinary vision to life in the heart of downtown Kansas City.
