Where’s Jeff Now: Mentorship on Site

PMA Engineering Vice President Jeff Patterson was recently on site at the historic KC Star Grand Place redevelopment project. He spent the afternoon inside an elevator shaft taking measurements of the existing concrete slab at one of the elevator door openings. These measurements will help guide our structural design for necessary slab infill and edge repairs before new elevator systems are installed.

At PMA, we know site visits are essential, not just routine. We believe great design begins with understanding the conditions and details first-hand. The best solutions come from a deep understanding of both the structural system and the client’s goals.

Jeff’s willingness to get into the field reflects one of PMA’s core values: mentorship through action. Our team believes the best way to develop strong engineers and deliver exceptional results is through direct involvement. We embody this through sharing experience, solving problems in real time, and modeling a hands-on, collaborative approach to structural engineering.

This is what structural engineering looks like at PMA: leaders who show up, teams that work together on site, and a commitment to getting it right from the very beginning.
