Breaking Ground in the Historic 18th & Vine District

PMA Engineering was proud to attend the recent groundbreaking ceremony for a new parking garage in the heart of Kansas City’s historic 18th & Vine District. The event marked the official start of construction on a project that aims to significantly improve access and support ongoing development in one of the city’s most culturally significant neighborhoods.

Located at the corner of 18th Street and Lydia Avenue, the new garage will feature up to 470 parking spaces, providing much-needed infrastructure for residents, local businesses, and the many visitors who frequent this vibrant area. The garage is expected contribute to the continued revitalization of the district, which is home to institutions like the American Jazz Museum and the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.

The ceremony brought together city officials, community leaders, project stakeholders, and members of the design and construction team to celebrate the milestone. Speakers highlighted not only the logistical benefits of the new structure, but also its role in preserving and enhancing a neighborhood with deep historical roots and a bright future.

PMA Engineering is honored to serve as the structural engineer for this impactful project. As construction moves forward, we look forward to seeing this project come to life and the many ways it will serve the community for years to come.
